The Calculation Engine Is The Product

Threshold Determination
Each chemical is compared against the EPCRA Tier II reporting thresholds: 10,000 lb for a general hazardous chemical, or the lower of 500 lb and the Section 302 Threshold Planning Quantity for an Extremely Hazardous Substance. Reportability is computed per chemical, not guessed from a category label.
Identifier Validation
Every CAS number is checked with the official weighted mod-10 check digit, not just pattern-matched. A transposed digit is rejected and the correct value is offered as a one-click fix. EHS status and TPQ values are drawn from the bundled EPCRA Section 302 reference list.

The production engine is cross-checked against an independent oracle re-stated from 40 CFR 370 in stress-oracle.ts. 347 unit and stress tests run on every build. Disagreements between the engine and the reference are surfaced as failures, never hidden.
Honest Self-Assessment — What The Engine Does Not Do
- ▪ The US wing determines EPCRA Tier II reportability and thresholds; it does not generate the full EPA Tier2 Submit XML form layout or state-specific e-filing output.
- ▪ The Extremely Hazardous Substance list is the complete current Appendix A to 40 CFR Part 355 — all 354 listed substances, with both threshold planning quantities where the appendix gives two. It is a committed repo transcription, not a live eCFR feed, so check the effective date before a filing deadline.
- ▪ Gallon-to-pound conversions assume 8.34 lb per gallon when no specific weight is supplied. Enter the actual weight for a precise threshold comparison.
